About the Event

The Rising Economy 2022 conference is produced by South Island Prosperity Partnership (SIPP). SIPP launched in 2016 as a response to the last global recession when Greater Victoria and Southern Vancouver Island lagged behind many of Canada’s other metro areas in economic recovery.

Today, SIPP and its partners represent one of Canada’s most collaborative economic development models. Our not-for-profit alliance includes local governments, First Nations, post-secondaries, industry associations and nonprofits, Chambers of Commerce and major employers.

We envision Greater Victoria as a globally fluent and resilient metropolitan city-region, full of potential and open to transformation. Our region represents a fusion of cultures and geographies, rooted in the traditional lands of the Coast Salish peoples and connected to the rest of Canada, the Pacific Northwest and Asia-Pacific. Together, we take bold steps to nurture a more innovative, diversified, inclusive and sustainable economy.

Now in its third year, the Rising Economy 2022 conference brings together leading thinkers from the business, government and non-profit sectors to engage in conversations around how our region and the world will meet the challenges of the 21st century. The conference features a curated selection of in-person and online events designed to shape the future of our economy by design, not by default.

With an A-list of exciting keynote speakers and panelists, Rising Economy Week 2022 explores a range of topics critical to Greater Victoria, British Columbia and the world around us.

The Rising Economy 2022 conference takes place from Tuesday, November 15 to Thursday, November 17.

The Rising Economy 2022 conference is a high-engagement event that takes place in the Songhees Wellness Centre, a spectacular gathering place located in Greater Victoria, British Columbia, on the traditional territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən people.

Location:

Songhees Wellness Centre,
1100 Admirals Rd,

The first Rising Economy conference in 2020 brought leaders to grapple with managing our economy through the pandemic. We knew by working together we would rebound from the pandemic faster.

Two years later, with recovery well underway in most sectors, the Rising Economy conference has become a magnet for people interested in shaping our economy by design not default. We choose Clarity as the theme for this year’s conference as Greater Victoria, British Columbia and the world seek to make sense of the massive changes around us and create a future focused on RISE — resilient, inclusive, sustainable economies.
